What is the difference between the words Appreciation and Gratitude?
Gratitude is an excellent word, but Appreciation has more umpf! Some would agree and believe that gratitude while a beautiful expression, often comes from a place of lack. Appreciation on the other hand comes from a place of positive expectation. Have you ever heard the saying “If the least is what you expect then the least is what you will get”? It is true! The words we use have the power to uplift and create those desires and expectations. Give it a try and see if you don’t start seeing a difference in how you feel and how others relate to you, in a more grounded and positive way. Appreciation also instills a sense of confidence in us that everything is going to be okay! This Journal was designed with one thought in mind: Find at least 5 things to appreciate every day and write them down. Soon you will find yourself looking forward to being uplifted as you write words such as, “I appreciate the way my dog is always so happy to see me!”, or “I appreciate how glorious the weather was today”, or, “I appreciate that my boss asked me my opinion today!”, or, “I appreciate the roof over my head and my comfy bed”. In time, you will not stop at 5 and you will find more and more every day to appreciate in your surroundings, in your family members and friends. In the end? Have fun with it, and watch how your life will change in small, subtle and yet powerful ways.
